A Multidisciplinary Approach of Designing:

STUDIO 23:23 Designs Based on NeuroAesthetic Principles

 

STUDIO 23:23 is a design studio based in Amsterdam. It is founded by the multidisciplinary design duo Carmen Heuvelmans and Sander Schram.

 

Carmen has a background in Product Design in Milan and New York and holds a Master’s degree in Neuroscience. She is currently doing her PhD in Engineering and Neuroscience, studying what the effect of the built environment (hospital architecture) does with the mental health of patients. 

 

Sander has had an adventurous career in filmmaking and has traveled the world for stunning film shoots, from Namibia to Bangkok. He is our critical eye, with his immense knowledge of the effects of light in film settings and shoots, he transforms all the light design in masterpieces.

What brought them together? A burning passion for creativity, where design, science, and light come together to create unique and varied designs. In 2023, they officially decided to open a studio together. Their designs quickly gained attention, and during the Design Fair in Milan, they were even honored with a visit from Queen Maxima, confirming the success of their work. They also had the opportunity to showcase their own designs and the work of other designers and artists during the GLUE event. They even had the surprising visit of world-renowned interior designer Kelly Wreastler. Other recent exhibitions were at the Dutch Design Week 2023, EigenHuis & Interieur stand, EM gallery, GLUE 2024.
